Dr. Nadia Lopez is a globally recognized leader in education, known for her transformative impact. Her rise to prominence began when Humans of New York highlighted her mission to break the cycle of incarceration in Brownsville, Brooklyn, through the founding of a school in one of the city’s most underserved communities. Her groundbreaking work has since been featured by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Glamour Magazine, with appearances on Good Morning America and The Today Show.
Her influence has earned her numerous accolades, including recognition as a 2022 Yahoo Maker, LinkedIn’s 2019 Top 10 Voices in Education, and a 2016 finalist for the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize. In 2015, she received the Black Girls Rock Award, standing alongside First Lady Michelle Obama. She has been invited to the White House to meet President Obama and has delivered a TED Talk on the Education Revolution, viewed over a million times.
Dr. Lopez lectures at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, addressing the school-to-prison pipeline, and teaches Global Education Issues at St. George’s University. She works with T.A. Marryshow Community College to develop a global virtual education center and supports educators through the Education Collective of Grenada.
A prolific author and advocate, she now serves as Chief Impact Officer at College and Community Fellowship, championing the empowerment of formerly incarcerated women. With a mission to inspire and uplift, she has impacted over a million lives—and aims to reach a billion more.
