Vernon Davis is a retired NFL Tight End who has played for the San Francisco 49ers, the Denver Broncos, and the Washington Redskins. Vernon, being the top tight end prospect due to his strong performance that caught the attention of college scouts, was selected sixth overall in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Vernon was the fourth highest tight end ever drafted at the time; this was only the beginning of his record breaking career. In 2009, Vernon held the all-time record for most touchdown receptions for a tight end, and was ranked in the NFL Top 100 Players in 2011, 2012, and 2014. No matter the team, Vernon was seen as a valuable asset. Davis would join the Denver Broncos in 2016 and would sign with his hometown team, the Washington Redskins, in 2017. Between the three teams, Davis totaled 7,562 received yards and 63 touchdowns– a truly amazing feat. Davis retired in 2020 and is now a professionally trained actor who has starred in films such as Chariot, Gasoline Alley, A Day to Die, Baywatch (2017), and more. Davis also made his debut as an Executive Producer at the 2021 American Black Film Festival with his production company Reel 85 Productions.
